Tikkurila Competence Campus

The goal of the competence campus being built in Tikkurila, Vantaa is to address challenges related to labour shortages and the evolving needs of working life. The campus is part of a new, attractive urban environment in a prime location near Tikkurila train station. Louhintahiekka carried out the earthworks on the campus area, which were completed five months ahead of schedule.

Louhintahiekka carried out the earthworks for the Competence Campus being built in Jokiniemi, Tikkurila between 2024 and 2032 (Tikkurila Competence Campus project | Vantaa). City of Vantaa’s total investment in the area is approximately 200 million euros, of which earthworks were about 4 million euros.

“We built the future campus area's water supply systems, operator and electrical piping, new lighting and surface structures, as well as environmental structures for the campus area such as retaining walls, recreational areas, and plantings. The contract also included extensive ground reinforcement work, including column stabilization and mass replacement, which are areas of special expertise for Louhintahiekka,” says Project Manager Hermann Mäki.

The work began in autumn 2024 and was handed over to the client in June 2025.

“What was significant in this project is that it was completed up to five months earlier than estimated, despite considerable changes made during the process. High-quality planning and efficient work execution were key to exceeding the schedule target, something we at Louhintahiekka are particularly proud of,” says Mäki.
