Näsi Island was a large artificial island construction and waterway fill project for the City of Tampere. It was a significant investment by the City of Tampere and will be used for mainly residential building and for the city’s tram network

Among other works, we transported 1,000,000 cubic meters of blasted rock into island and the embankment structures of the tramway, primarily using our own equipment. We also conducted underwater dredging and erosion protection for the water fills. Two pipeline bridges were installed underwater.

The project was under a tight schedule that required a substantial amount of resources. Nevertheless, Louhintahiekka completed the Näsisaari project about a month ahead of schedule.

The development of Näsisaari is an example of how large infrastructure projects can be executed in environmentally challenging conditions in a sustainable and efficient manner.
